What is the application process?
The application process is simple, relaxing and pain-free. You will be
comfortably lying down with your eyes closed and protected. This is a
non-surgical procedure - it is very safe and non-invasive. Synthetic
extension lashes are meticulously adhered to your own natural lashes one
at a time, utilising a specially formulated medical-grade bonding agent.
This process is then repeated until all of the required eyelashes are
treated. At no time does the adhesive/bonding agent come into contact with
How long does the application take?
The initial procedure takes approximately one to one and a half hours for a full set to be applied. For infills, application can take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes depending on the amount of extensions required.
Is this procedure safe?
There are risks associated with all lash & brow treatments, including
standard tinting, waxing, perming etc. Your therapist will explain the treatment
and risk in full before application. It is important to note however, that
there are only minimal risks associated with lash grafting when lashes are
grafted by a trained technician using high quality, professional products.
Eyelash Extensions should only ever be applied by a trained, certified
professional. Trying to apply your own lash extensions, or allowing an
untrained person to do so, may result in injury or damaged or fake-looking lashes.
How long do the eyelash extension lashes last?
Applied correctly by a technician, lashes will last the life of your
natural lash - anywhere from 4 to 6, even up to 8 weeks with regular
infills and good care (as per your after-care pamphlet). They do require regular infills to stay looking full and perfect.
How often do I need to have eyelash extension infills?
Initially - for the first month or so, you will need to have your lashes
checked every 2 weeks. The reason for this is that eyelash growth cycles
vary, and your lashes are constantly being shed and replaced - the average
individual actually loses 3 to 5 natural lashes per day! Your therapist needs to
see you over the first four weeks to gauge your natural lash shedding
After the first month, depending on your lash cycle and level of maintenance within your lifestyle, infills may only need to be applied every 2 to 4 weeks. It is important to note that duty of after-application care is imperative to the longevity and overall appearance of your lashes.
What makes your lashes better than other brands or technicians?
Experience is essential in this type of industry for ensuring a beautiful job. Our therapists have been professionally trained by the best in the Industry and have several years of experience as eyelash extensions technicians and a large client base of regular clients to account for their quality work. Most of the therapists are also a fully qualified beauty therapists, so they understand the lash cycle and application far more in-depth than someone who has simply done just an eyelash extensions course.
The Touch Up Team also uses only professional products, and is always on top of the latest products, ingredients and techniques.
The Touch Up Team prefer 'silk' lash extensions rather than acrylic lashes, as silk lashes are far softer and feel more natural. They do not break or bend. However we also stocks acrylic lashes and mink lashes as an option to her clients. We offer a huge selection of lash lengths, thicknesses, curl types, colours and lash type. All of the optional extras also make her services stand out from other lash technicians.
Can I apply mascara to my Eyelash Extensions?
Yes. However, one of the many advantages to your eyelash extensions is
that you will not need to wear mascara - the extensions alone achieve the
same, if not far superior, result.
However, for those who wish to continue wearing mascara, DO NOT use
oil-based or waterpfoof mascara. These will dissolve the bonding agent,
causing your lashes to fall off. Use only water-based mascara.
It is highly recommended to purchase the specially-formulated ''Finishing Touch' mascara from The Touch Up Team for $25.00. It is guaranteed and safe to wear on lash extensions and is formulated for sensitive eyes.
Can the Eyelash Extensions be removed?
Yes. Eyelash extensions may be removed, however this should only ever be
attempted by your technician. Lash extensions are removed using a special
glue remover. Do not under any circumstances, attempt to 'pull out'
extensions, as this will simply result in not only pulling out the
synthetic extensions, but also the natural lash to which it has been
Are there any reasons why not to have Eyelash Extensions?
Yes. Should you have had an eyelash perm recently, you will be required to
wait a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks before having eyelash extensions.
Furthermore, if you are experiencing any eye irritations or infections,
this area needs to be clear prior to application to prevent further
infection. Last but not least, should you be a person that constantly rubs
their eyes or picks at their eyelashes, eyelash extensions may not be a
suitable option for you.
